Welcome
You have arrived at the talk page of Squash.
As of 08 October 2004. This talk page has been cosmetically revamped by me to make it look better. However none and I mean none, of the talk by the users itself have been changed. Only the addition, change of headings and such were changed. Please compare with the last none modified version located here. The chronological order still remains as of original.
Please if it isn't a nuisance follow the styling of the other 'talkbacks', so I do not have the modify it to be cosmetically appealing and for 'originality's sake'. Thank You squash 20:58, Oct 7, 2004 (UTC)
Welcome
[edit]Hello, welcome to Wikipedia. You might like to start by reading the tutorial and introducing yourself at the new users page. If you have any questions, you can ask at the help desk or on my talk page. Two useful tips are that you can sign your name using four tildes (~~~~) and you can preview your changes before you save using the show preview button. You can regularly find new tips on the Community Portal. I look forward to reading your great articles and I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian. :) Fennec (さばくのきつね) 03:29, 2 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Welcome to another Australasian!
[edit]Gidday, cobber. Just seen your typically modest Aussie entry on the New User Log. You're helping to right the hemisphere imbalance.
I once played cricket, hockey, and soccer, but not simultaneously. My son represented "NZ Colts" for "Aussie Rules" in Brisbane a couple of years ago.
Enjoy! - Robin Patterson 00:57, 23 Jun 2004 (UTC)
List of cricketers
[edit]I see you're adding to this list - excellent! One point to note is that the Sikh names (with "Singh" as the second name) and Muslim names don't follow the same sorting rule of last name first, and shouldn't be displayed that way either. So for example, the following list is sorted and displayed correctly:
- Amar Singh
- Botham, Ian
- Wasim Akram
- Warne, Shane
- Yuvraj Singh
If you have any doubt about any name, we're following the same rules as CricInfo. But please, keep adding important cricketers! --dmmaus 09:29, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Question
[edit]Why did you remove links from List of cricketers? --Hemanshu 10:33, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC)
I just wanted to know the reason... I was wondering if I am wrong. --Hemanshu 10:39, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC)
I have removed the multiple links and kept the first links. Multiple links are not good clearly. --Hemanshu 10:49, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Template:Delete
[edit]Howdy - I don'y know about anyone else, but I really like the new speedy delete template. It pops. Very nice. Ocon | Talk 06:57, 1 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- I don't think it's a waste yet. Let's create a subpage of your user page, say User:Squash/Templates and show your versions of the templates there. We can then post a request for comment and get wide community input on the new design. I'll help with the effort if you like. - Ocon | Talk 17:26, 1 Aug 2004 (UTC)
List of cricketers
[edit]Hi - while I appreciate the all hard work you have been putting in on List of cricketers to make it more comprehensive, I would really appreciate it if you could create articles for some of the new entries (even stubs). This is not intended to stop you adding new players, it is just that so many red links looks so sad. I've added a few when the muse has taken me, but further assistance would be great!
You might also like to look at User:Nichalp's work on cricket/temp. -- ALoan (Talk) 10:50, 11 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks for the message - and for creating a pile of stubs (sub-stubs, mostly, if we are still allowed to call them that). But a good start. As well as category, another relatively easy thing to do is to link to the cricinfo.com player profile - for new people that you add, at least, I'm not asking you to sort out all the existing ones! -- ALoan (Talk) 22:01, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Substubs
[edit]Please stop creating substubs on those Australian actors. At least make them into normal stubs. [[User:Mike Storm|Mike∞Storm]] 02:37, 15 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Once created, substubs shouldn't be deleted, but they shouldn't be created in the first place. [[User:Mike Storm|Mike∞Storm]] 02:44, 15 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- This is merely commentary for the viewers of this user page. The fact was I did not create substubs but one line setence article label as stub. To many of you who are stub supporters, may consider this as the Wiki-correct procedure, but to all of you substub supporters many of you support that procedure. squash 20:34, Oct 7, 2004 (UTC)
Cricket
[edit]I would like to question the criteria you sorted the external cricket links. My opinion is that the links should point to the relevancy of the page and how well it explains the topic not on how large the site is. The top most sites should point to the official pages. I also see your a wonderful graphics editor. We are looking to nominate Cricket as a featured articles. Any chances of you beautifying the diagrams currently on the page? Adminship
[edit]Thanks for your support of my adminship. –Andre (talk) 17:38, 18 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks for the praise. :) Hey, do you want to be nominated? I've never nominated anyone before but I could probably figure it out. –Andre (talk) 09:39, 19 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Thanks!
[edit]From Hpnadig
[edit]hi squash, Just came here to thank you for one of the graphics you made. We've used it here. --Hpnadig 17:56, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)
From Muriel
[edit]Catching up after absence, i notice your compliment on the family trees. I appreciate that! I'm still in wikipedia, but on the portuguese one. Have fun here! Muriel G 08:53, 6 Oct 2004 (UTC)
My nomination for adminship
[edit]Thank you for supporting my nomination for adminship. I will do my best to serve Wikipedia. --Slowking Man 00:06, Oct 13, 2004 (UTC)
Thanks Squash
[edit]It was my fault really. I edited the page and just posted two words the first time. I should have tried testing it before I posted anything. Anyway, thanks for the tip on moving pages. I should read more about editing before I edit anything again. --Dara 22:48, 15 Nov2004 (UTC)
Bureaucratship
[edit]Thanks for your supportive vote of my bureaucratship. Unfortunately, the vote was judged to be too close, but I hope you'll support me when I run again. :) Andre (talk) 16:01, Nov 16, 2004 (UTC)

About your question...
[edit]Hi Squash, I answered the question that you asked me on my talk page, but now I come back to see that everything on it has mysteriously disappeared. I looked at the history and couldn't see anyone who deleted it -- weird. ANyways, I use to own a forum, but not no more. --Dara 02:47, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
