Ex abbot of wat sampran dragon temple was not a sexual abuser but victim of a criminal organization to destroy him

    [edit]

i wish that the Wikipedia give opportunity for writing my testimony as a devoted of such a saint Chamlong Khonsue . I was mentioned before I met him by two prophetess in america that I was to meet the master of the father of my boys an ex monk from Thailand d dragon temple , disciple of dragon monk as we call luang pho Bhavana Buddho . He is a saint , enlighten that under the hands <redacted>. The saint did not accepted and request them all to allow him serve the prison , sacrifice himself as a bodhisattva into prison to help the inmates and officers to go to heaven . So , I was in the mission to bring this testimony to king of Thailand , to pm , all vip , to united nations and since always till today we are blocked , oppressed , persecuted by the criminal organization that block this dragon temple the source of economical and spiritual power for all the world . A monument for peace and salvation for the world from the Christ version chinese.

Please clarify both version of Wikipedia ... I took him out of prison by a royal pardon 5 December 2019 in the occasion of father's day the happy birthday of lord Rama 9 . Thanks 2603:9001:68F0:86E0:241F:8D54:576C:58B (talk) 18:31, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The English-language Wikipedia has no article on Chamlong Khonsue. If it did, any article content would be based on published reliable sources, and not on the 'testimony' of a devotee. AndyTheGrump (talk) 18:37, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Linking to articles

    [edit]

I am unsure if the edits I have tried to make are against guidelines. I work for a non profit that promotes all things happening in Salt Lake County and I was linking to additional resources on Salt Lakes page. I understand edits need to be made in order to build out a page for the non profit, which would just focus on tourism in salt lake county. is this allowed? The safest thing to do is to propose changes at the article talk page as you clearly have a conflict of interest as you appear to represent an organisation. There is also an issue with your username, which should be personal to you rather than an organisation - see WP:ORGNAME. If you are being paid by the organisation, see also WP:PAID. How do I make an "episode table" collapsible

    [edit]

Hi. I want to make an existing "Episode table" template table collapsible, default: collapsed. I've tried wrapping it in "{| class="wikitable mw-collapsible mw-collapsed" |+ ... |}, which I found somewhere, but that doesn't seem to do anything.

    Thanks! Tsavage (talk) 20:42, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Tsavage I think that there is useful documentation at {{table}}. Disclaimer: I've never created a table! Mike Turnbull (talk) 21:35, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Nothing there helped. The table remains uncollapsed. Tsavage (talk) 22:31, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Tsavage: Don't make content which is not visible when an article is shown. See MOS:DONTHIDE. Bazza 7 (talk) 22:09, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In the case at hand, I'd argue that the table contains supplementary information. (It's a partial list of episode titles of a show related to the main article subject.) Tsavage (talk) 22:34, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Harmful user

    [edit]

I've warned user:Sinclairian about the biased, inaccurate, and harmful edits they've been doing. These are on very niche topics that nobody's ever, ever going to notice. Like who's gonna actually check the source translation on the Arslan Tash amulets? Well, I did because the translation is so scrabblingly amateurish, (Also because I always look lately when I see that username on one of my watched articles) and the user's rendering of it actually had some "improvements" that might make the scholar look better or worse. The reader would think the translation has been accurately copied and pasted when that's not the case. The other translation's even worse by some scholar I don't know. Someone legitimate, I'm sure, but not good. I think questionable artifacts should be categorized as such and noted in the first paragraph, and translastions of questioned items and forgeries shouldn't be included for obvious reasons. Anyway, I think the user should be banned. Inaccurcies on minor Semitic languages that a dozen people know will stick around forever; the quietness of it means the ripples on public knowledge will spread with no end. Very subtly destructive stuff. (Sorry if this is the wrong place, it's my first time reporting a user.) Temerarius (talk) 23:01, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A professor running some student editing thing?

    [edit]

This is the AGF way to look at it, though I also see LLMs in use, at least in the summaries, but User talk:Noah Theodore Johnson, whose user page says they are a professor, has created a few articles where most accounts who edited it are accounts with nearly no edits elsewhere and usually who have edited in multiple of their created articles. Could someone who knows how these things should be ran and/or who has more time to investigate than me, give this a look? – 2804:F1...ED:16CD (talk) 05:44, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Erm, I still don't have time to do more investigation, but more investigation let me find out that one of the involved accounts, CronoWiki, is checkuser blocked in pt wiki as a sock of an user who's been socking since 2022 (who does not seem to have a sock case in this wiki). Which is at least suspicious. – 2804:F1...ED:16CD (talk) 05:49, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
User:Opaulista and User:TransWikipro were also sockpuppets of Oliver Lex. This might warrant a sock investigation. Industrial Insect (talk) 14:45, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Plus User:Rabino Eli Schlesinger. Almost all the new users editing that page were socks of Oliver Lex. Industrial Insect (talk) 14:49, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Somehow I missed User:Oliver Lex themself editing the article. I haven't found reason enough to believe that the article creator is involved, with the exception of how quickly after the article creation the socks started editing. Industrial Insect (talk) 14:56, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Industrial Insect: Ah, thank you for making the SPI case, I was struggling to type all the accounts, just Sephardic surnames had a whole bunch. @Izno(thank you too!) also requested a global lock for them after checking them, so they have all been globally locked now. – 2804:F14:809E:1401:D06A:A5D1:7293:F040 (talk) 21:21, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I second Shantavira's suggestion to look at requests for undeletion, but, as the article was speedily deleted under criterion A7, it will likely need significant additional work before being suitable for inclusion. Template for pop-science oriented page

    [edit]

The page Whirlwind contains two sources to pop-science articles and nothing else. It ends up covering very surface-level information that is also (from my understanding) bordering incorrect, and goes over much of the same information from Tornado and Tornadogenesis under a different name. A simple comparison can be made between Whirlwind and Tornadogenesis; see the quality and types of sources specifically. I was wondering, as I cannot expand the article right now, is there a template for pop-science articles in need of major changes to become wiki quality? If not, is there one I can use in the place of one? GeorgeMemulous (talk) 17:28, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If the information is not public, you can email the oversight team WP:OVERSIGHT. However, the edit summaries say the information is "not authorized", Wikipedia does not need permission or authorization to include public information in an article. RudolfRed (talk) 00:19, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi IP 2600:8800:611F:1100:445A:E2DF:A7CD:BE79. Perhaps you'll find the information in Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Relationship between the subject, the article, and Wikipedia. Wikipedia article content is supposed to only reflect what can be verified through citations to reliable sources, and any content that doesn't can, in principle, be removed.
After looking at the article, I've decided to hide content in the main infobox about your wife and children per WP:BLPSOURCES and WP:BLPNAME so that it's inclusion can be further discussed at Talk:Eric Stoltz#Wife and children. You're welcome to participate in that discussion if you want, but before you do you might want to take a close look at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest because it contains information you might find helpful.
In addition, I'm assuming in good faith that you're the Eric Stoltz the article is written about and not someone pretending to be him; however, please understand that there's no way for anyone editing Wikipedia to verify this to be case simply based on an IP address or your word. So, if you plan on participating in the discussion on the article's talk page, you might consider registering for an account. You can use your real name as your username if you want; if you do, you should look at WP:REALNAME and WP:REALWORLD to make sure that's something you want to do. Given who you are, you might even consider having your identity verified by the Wikimedia Volunteer Response Team (VRT) to make it clear to others that you're indeed the same Eric Stoltz. Regardless of which username you choose or whether you continue to edit as an IP address, you should take a look at WP:DECLARECOI for reference and consider having your identity verified to avoid others thinking you're just someone screwing around. If you have any general questions about the above or anything else about Wikipedia, feel free to ask them here at the Help Desk or at the Wikipedia Teahouse. You can also seek assistance at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard if you want.
Lastly, please try to understand that Wikipedia is collaborative editing project whose participants are all volunteers, and there's no central editorial board per se overseeing and assessing edits made to articles. This means that sometimes edits (like the ones you made) are reverted because they don't appear to have been made in accordance with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Nobody (even the subjects of articles) in particular owns an article or has any claim of final editorial control over it, and disagreements over article content are typical expected to be resolved through discussion in accordance with Wikipedia:Dispute resolution instead of Wikipedia:Edit warring; so, if you have further concerns any content written about you on Wikipedia, you probably be better off following the advice given in WP:COIADVICE instead of trying to take care of things yourself. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:07, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Page Removal - Aurora Threats

    [edit]

Dear Wikipedia Team, I am writing once again to formally request the removal of my Wikipedia entry. I have now engaged a professional team to assist in setting up an accurate and well-sourced article that reflects my career and achievements. At this point, we believe that removing the current entry is the best course of action to ensure the new content is built from a clean slate. We have made previous attempts to provide concise, accurate, and verifiable information, but I would prefer that our team handle the process from here. I kindly ask for your assistance in this matter.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Hamley24 (talk) 00:22, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not censored. Any information that is reliably cited will remain in the article. See the guidelines for conflict-of-interest writing here. GeorgeMemulous (talk) 00:24, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
After checking the article Aurora Threats, I understand that the editing is not to remove any reliable harmful information, but at the same time I don't think the article is "bad" enough to warrant WP:TNT, the formal process for starting all over. Still, your team must disclose paid editing, see WP:PAID. GeorgeMemulous (talk) 00:27, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Each member of your "team" will need their own account and they should make it very clear that they are different people. Your team can't have exclusive control over the article. 331dot (talk) 00:49, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Removal of My Website

    [edit]

Hello, I am writing to request the removal of my website, Menlypedia.xyz, from Wikipedia’s blacklist. My website is not an adult or spammy site. It primarily focuses on topics related to history, science, and SEO. I believe the site may have been mistakenly categorized or blacklisted. Menlypedia is dedicated to providing informative content, and I ensure that all articles are researched and adhere to high standards. I would like to contribute to Wikipedia and provide my site as a reliable source for relevant topics. I request that the blacklist entry be reviewed and reconsidered. Could you please guide me on how I can proceed with this issue? I’m happy to provide additional information or clarification if needed.

My contact email is: [redacted] Thank you very much for your time and consideration. 2400:1A00:BD11:1368:8939:89E2:2BBF:1E3 (talk) 05:54, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:USERG, your website is not a useful source on WP. For the same reason, we don't use WP as a source on WP either. Since SEO is your interest, I assume you know WP uses nofollow. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 06:39, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
First, your website is not on any blacklist. The entire .xyz domain is on the blacklist.
Second, you are asking at the wrong place. MediaWiki talk:Spam-whitelist is the place to request poking a hole in the blacklist, but you did not make a valid request so it was removed.
Third, we never entertain requests from the website owner to remove from the blacklist or whitelist a site.
Finally, there is no possible reason why any Wikipedia would have a link to your site. It is a wiki, and therefore not considered a reliable source. ~Anachronist (talk) 07:23, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Anachronist, your last point--really? The "External links" section was, I thought, for resources that are relevant to the subject and seem to have some value, but don't qualify as reliable sources. They can thus include "official" sites, "profiles", interviews and so forth. (NB I'm not saying they should include these, merely that these aren't automatically disqualified.) If this is indeed so, I don't see why a source should be impermissible in EL sections just because it's user-generated. (I know nothing about this particular website, and have the impression that most user-generated material is junk.) 60.47.212.235 (talk) 10:23, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
While an official website can be used to cite what that person/organization states, a wiki is inherently unreliable as it is open to editing by anyone for any reason. So there is no validity in including such a site in the External Links of an article. — The Hand That Feeds You:Bite 13:50, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you have a look at the website, it's an underfunded project started by a couple of teenagers who seem to be making a good-faith effort to provide well-sourced information about a handful of topics, the purpose being apparently SEO for the citations. Overall the content there isn't much different from the content on Wikipedia, and I wouldn't be surprised if they're using Wikipedia articles as a starting point. ~Anachronist (talk) 15:45, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey everyone, I am currently in work in progress of my draft about the 2015 DM319 TNO. However, I need help in adding information to the infobox in the draft, because I am confused on which information and references to add. MJGTMKME123 (talk) 12:20, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Quotes around informal terms?

    [edit]

I don't think this use of quotes is correct, per MOS:TERM or MOS:LEADSENTENCE - can you confirm? Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 12:54, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    [edit]

There is Pankaj Nebmang in tittle but in content it is pankaj bikram nembang annd the real name is Pankaj Bikram Nembang We cannot edit main page name please help us to maintain it Saroj Budhathoki (talk) 12:58, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Saroj Budhathoki. There is no mention of Pankaj on the main page, but the place to point out corrections to the main page is Talk:Main Page. The article on Pankaj Bikram Nebmang appears to be correct. If you are referring to a different Wikipedia you need to raise your concern there. Shantavira|feed me 13:12, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have moved Pankaj Bikram Nebmang to Pankaj Bikram Nembang in line with the article and its sources. TSventon (talk) 13:41, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Citations when copy-pasting from another article?

    [edit]

When copy-pasting a tidbit from one article into another, do I need to search the original article for the relevant citation and carry that over as well, or is just linking the original article good enough?

I'm asking this following recent edits to the "In popular culture" section on Tardigrade, since there aren't very many in-line citations in the article I took the trivia from, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts.

You should copy the citation, too - you have no way of knowing that it won't eventually be removed from the other article. (And if what you're copying has enough creativity to be copyrightable, you need to attribute it - see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.) —Cryptic 14:47, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Hello

    [edit]

How would you name something like a link or page that you post?I just posted something new and i figured it would take forever for someone to find it. Bryson W Johnson (talk) 15:30, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Falsification of wiki page about me

    [edit]

     Courtesy link: Clare Dimyon

An individual keeps making vexacious edits and when I the person who is being described changes those references, they change them back. I have better things to do with my time than this individual who clearly delights in the falsification of actual events and the abuse of a rape survivor who happens not to have a programming background.
